Used Progress ABL. Junior software developer in the financial services sector, on the Integrated Loans Systems team. Worked on credit bureau integrations, loan calculations, responsive screens and database interactions. Played a role on a team that won a FinTech award in 2016.
2017
Manuva Group, City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, South Africa
Development team manager with a team of three developers. Using Angular 5 and .NET for the backend, the team built a fitness facility management platform and a mobile app for people to find and book personal trainers and exercise classes membership free. Manuva is a tech start-up in the Health & Fitness space.

Hong Kong University of Technology (Remote)
A short course working on web-application UI frameworks specialising in Angular and Typescript. Operated by the Computer Science department at the Hong Kong University of Technology.
2018–2019
IN-SYNC, Farnham, UK
Built an app to track journeys driven by the user. Based on regular travel the application would autoclassify journeys as business or personal for self-employed users’ tax returns. The application data tied directly into the In-Sync Tax systems and updated official records. A three-month contract was extended to rebuild the app from scratch. Worked with a UX/UI designer to implement designs and animations within the Ionic applications. Sole front-end developer on the project.

A short course working on cross-platform mobile applications using Ionic & Cordova. Operated by the Computer Science department at the Hong Kong University of Technology.

Building Ionic apps for a variety of different projects. Clients include the DVSA, Axelos and HM Health and Safety Executive. Built a platform to deliver multiple cross-platform study and quiz apps quickly. Each of which had thousands of downloads.

Rant-Consultancy
Rant Consultancy is the name of my contracting/freelance company. Angular 6–10 and Ionic 3–5 developer. During the Covid19 lockdown, worked on freelance projects to keep skills sharp, including CandyFloss Media, Propertybook, aOK, Tap Art, Tap ’n’ Go, Lissen, Read with Someone, Intertap and Ultra-Booking.
2020–2021
Dorling Kindersley, London, UK
Senior frontend engineer on an internal payroll and time tracking application built for the DK group called TAPS. TAPS is built with Angular 11 and Tailwind on the frontend. Also built and released cross-platform mobile apps, DK 5 Words A Day and DK Birds App, and built updates and revisions in the English For Everyone suite. These cross-platform apps were built with Preact. Also worked across the full stack, extending the internal CMS system built for DK web-applications and companion mobile-applications.

I turned the Shout social marketing agency into a SaaS platform. We rebuilt both Shout and UniTaskr from the ground up using modern styles and tools. Predominately Angular, NestJS and PostgreSQL. As the CTO and team lead I am a major part of understanding business and customer requirements, converting them into an architectural specification and then building out the software products. I joined pre-seed and with the products that I built we raised seed funding and tripled the revenue 2 years in a row.
